La Porta

La porta is a refuge in the Tuscan-Emilian Appennines, an old 1800 house. It is immersed in the wild nature and has a powerful energy. It finds at 800 meters above sea level and is overlooking the valley.

It is a collective shared space, women sleep in common rooms, there is a collective bath-room inside the house and an organic one outside. Women eat together, participate in the activities and take care of the place.

Animals are wellcome, but their human friends should take care of them avoiding damages to people and properties.

It is possible to come to participate in activities, but even to relax themselves and enjoy the beauty of the mountain.

Women can sleep in house and in tents. When there are organized activities women eat together, in other cases people can cook individually.

THE HISTORY OF THE PLACE

Lesbians and women have been living in this place since the 1998. The association was born in 2005.
For many years La Porta has been a refuge for emerging women artists, the headquarters of Lesbacce Incolte editions (http://www.women.it/les/case/lesbacce.htm) that have published Nicole Brossard, Monique Wittig and Ana Cuenca’s books (http://www.anacuenca.net), and a lesbians’ agenda for the year 1998.
The musical group Tribad (http://www.tribad.org) has created and recorded some tracks here, including the cd titled "Complot Electropoetique".
